Therapeutic Application

NIR light (680-1100nm, tunable by nanorod aspect ratio) absorbed by antibody-conjugated gold nanorods at neuronal membrane. Photothermal conversion raises local temperature above 43.8C TRPV1 activation threshold. Ca2+ influx triggers action potential. DA-specific effect inferred but not directly demonstrated in VTA. Narrow thermal safety window (43.8-47C).
